Billy Sharp will miss Doncaster's crucial South Yorkshire derby with Barnsley. The on-loan Southampton striker was sent off for violent conduct over the latter stages of last weekend's defeat at Brighton all of which will start a three-match ban.

Richie Wellens is usually unavailable to boss Paul Dickov since the midfielder completes a 2-game suspension, but Harry Forrester has returned to training and may be for sale.

Defender Gabriel Tamas was withdrawn at half-time against the Seagulls as a precaution and may overcome a hamstring symptom in time for it to face the Tykes.

Emmanuel Frimpong returns to contention for Barnsley following suspension, but fellow midfielder Jacob Mellis sits the second bet on his three-match ban.

Frimpong, on loan from Arsenal, was sent off for a few yellow card offences on his debut at Sheffield Wednesday and missed last week's draw with Ipswich, but Mellis received a straight red in the same match.

Reds boss Danny Wilson is hoping another recent signing, Crystal Palace defender Jack Hunt, can remove a knock on time, however the experienced Bobby Hassell remains being affected by a calf problem.

Barnsley, second from bottom, have won only once traveling inside the league this coming year, at Brighton during the early December.
