Crewe boss Steve Davis believes striker Vadaine Oliver could resume action when they face bottom-of-the-table Gillingham. The 21-year-old summer signing from Lincoln missed the draw with Oldham last weekend due to a dead-leg but Davis says was more as being a precaution given he trained on Friday.

Oliver did feature with the Alex's reserve team against Walsall on Tuesday, as did midfielder Anthony Grant who should also be accessible despite experiencing an aching back lately.

Full-back Gregor Robertson (knee) continues to be out so Jon Guthrie probably will make out again while striker Mathias Pogba (knee) and goalkeeper Alan Martin (hip) remain sidelined.

Gillingham boast a fully-fit squad when they chase their first win of the season. The Kent club fell to a seventh defeat into their opening 10 games of the season from last weekend's 1-0 home reverse to Bradford, with manager Martin Allen and his awesome squad working hard this week inside a bid to show matters around.

The Gills boss has hinted he might make numerous changes and so on of Danny Kedwell, Chris Whelpdale and Steven Gregory are typical longing for recalls.

Gillingham enter in the clash in the foot of the League One table but know a good-awaited victory could take them out with the bottom four.
